General Info

A tree which is not truly known in a wild situation, it is widely cultivated in the tropics and subtropics where the fruits are highly valued.

Growing Conditions

Succeeds in climates that are hot and either wet or dry, though trees need adequate water for fruit development. It can succeed in soils with pH of 6-8. Well-drained sandy loam soil is ideal, but will succeed in rocky soils as well.

Fruit harvested from a tree grown in Ft. Myers, FL. The original tree is a seedling purple sugar apple from a grower at the Tampa Bay Rare Fruit Club.
