Grafted ‘Paulista’ Jaboticaba
These plants are the result of grafting small ‘Paulista’ scions onto ‘sabara’ jaboticaba rootstocks. The rootstocks are grown in 5” deep plugs, so the plants are quite small.
Our mother tree was obtained via non-mature scion wood, and therefore these grafted plants do not have mature ‘paulista’ scion wood. Only 1 available.
Note: Grafted trees retain the named variety’s genetics. Any growth from below the graft union will not and should be removed.
Note: Grafted trees retain the named variety’s genetics. In this case, ‘sabara’ jaboticaba will, in time, fruit below the graft union, allowing for 2 varieties to fruit on the same tree. This is really only possible with jaboticaba since they fruit directly on the main trunks and branches.
General Info
Immature ‘Paulista’ budwood was grafted onto ‘sabara’ jaboticaba rootstock for this particular plant. ‘Paulista’ jaboticaba is a plinia cauliflora species. This variety takes a very long time to fruit, 10+ years. The new foliage is very ornamental.

20’+ but it is slow-growing
Growing Conditions
This ‘Paulista’ is grafted on ‘sabara’ rootstock and therefore will grow well in Florida soils and tolerate city water with no issues. Plants like lots of water and can be grown in partial-shade. Plants can be kept in partial-shade or moved to full sun once they read about 3’ tall.
Years to Fruit
10+ Years. ‘Paulista’ is not a precocious variety of jaboticaba.
Taste
Not sure, but should taste similar to ‘sabara’ jaboticaba.

Cold tolerant to the high twenties at least.
