Gin Berry (Glycosmis pentaphylla)
General Info
Gin berry is a shurb or small tree native to tropical Asia, though it has become a popular plant in the Caribbean. The tree is ornamental and can fruit nearly year-round. The fruits are reported to have medicinal properties and its leaves are used in traditional medicines.
Growing Conditions
Full sun to partial sun. Prefers fertile, moisture retentive but well-drained soils.
Taste
The fruits have a taste surprisingly similar to gin, hence the name gin berry.
